Submarine Veterans of WWII USS Sea Fox


USSVI records indicate that he was COB sometime during his time aboard.  He was aboard the Sea Fox 1946-47 as TMC(SS)

Robert Henry Willyard, LCDR, USN, Ret., 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Cedar Creek Life Center, Merritt Island on Wednesday, August 20, 2014. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen in 1999, and is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) Gaynor and stepdaughter, Gillian (Gill) Smith and their families. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a loyal and cherished friend to many. Bob was born in Grand Rapids, MI on July 3, 1921. He enlisted in the Navy on June 4, 1940 and served for 30 years on submarines [S-48, R-20, Shad, CSD-62, Lancetfish, Apogon, Sea Fox, Sarda, Trumpetfish] and support vessels [Fulton, Proteus, Bushnell] before retiring July 1, 1970. He was a member of the Snug Harbor Base U.S. Submarine Veterans Chapter. His retirement years were divided between Argyll, Scotland and Merritt Island, FL. Bob's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cedar Creek Life Center and Vitas Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 5555 N. Tropical Trail, Merritt Island on Saturday, August 23 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Charitable Foundation of USSVI. William Stavosky Jr., a resident of San Leandro, CA, passed away peacefully at home August 20, 2014. Bill was born April 21, 1921(and raised) in Oakland, California. He joined the Navy and proudly served in WWII in the submarine service[Gar]. He married Marilyn Ferreira and they raised 3 children. Bill had a long career as an engineer at Underwriter's Laboratories. After Marilyn's death, Bill met and married Jo Marie Seeberger. Bill was predeceased by his parents, his brother Ray, and his wife Marilyn. He is survived by his wife Jo Marie, his loving companion and recent caregiver; and his beloved children, Jill (Michael), Jim (Andrea) and Janet (Peter), and grandchildren Luis and Alec. Friends are invited to attend services at Assumption Church, 1100 Fulton Ave, San Leandro; Rosary on Friday 8/22/14 at 7 PM, and Funeral Liturgy on Saturday 8/23/14 at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Rosary Makers, c/o Assumption Church.
