Arkansas World War II Submarine Veteran Charles Kalba sailed aboard the USS Jack SS-259 and the USS Saury SS-189. Mr. Kalba needs our prayers and cards of encouragement. He has been battling a tough stain of pneumonia since December 2007. I received this information from Anne Williams for her Papaw April 18. His address is Charles Kalba, 708 Rosston Road, Prescott, AR 71857.
As their newsletter editor I sent out 75 newsletters for the Arkansas Submarine Veterans of World War II April 14. This picture of Mr. Kalba was taken at the Eureka Springs meeting November 07. We hope he'll be able to attend the upcoming meeting this fall.

Twin Lakes Submarine Base, Mountain Home, Arkansas donated 500 hundred dollars to the Gassville Tornado Fund. Their picture was on The Baxter Bulletin newspaper's website and in The Mountaineer Echo, Flippen newspaper. We have a great group of 30 members. I have finished writing the Arkansas Submarine Veterans of World War newsletter. I'll make copies and send out to 80 members. Don't forget 11 April is National Submarine Day. Don' forget to thank a subvet for serving our country. November 2008 the Twin Lakes Base will be displaying their memorabilia in the display case at the Baxter County Library at Mountain Home.
