Members of the Arkansas Submarine Veterans of World War II Diamond Chapter are slowly blending with the Submarine Veterans Inc., which organized years later. November and December was very busy with the release of my non-fiction book Submarine Stories of World War II (for teens & adults) and attending submarine organizations' meetings. Plus, writing articles and the Arkansas Submarine Veterans of World War II newsletter. I mailed 80 last week. Also, an article and photos to the Wives of U.S. Submarine Veterans WWII magazine for the March issue. In-between were the holidays that kept me hopping. Saturday 29 December 2007 we went to the memorial service for Carl Bernard Velner as he sailed on his last patrol. He was a member of the Twin Lakes Submarine Base. He will be missed. I admire the closeness of the members when support is needed. Carl 's boats were the Clamagore SS-343, Manta SS-299, and the Sablefish SS- 303.
