Robalo Base (North Dakota) Reports...Submitted by: Pat Householder on 7/6/2009---------------------------------------------------------"To date we have sold over 250 USS NORTH DAKOTA Ball Caps of the nearly 450 I ordered. I expect we will have several airline tickets worth of money saved in our checking account by the end of this year.. Recall our goal is to send each USSVI-North Dakota member to the commissioning of USS NORTH DAKOTA (SSN-784) in 2012.Finally, we had a Mr. David Zier in Fargo on Wednesday, July 1st. He was an actual crewmember of the USS ROBALO when it was sunk in 1944 - he just happened to have been given a pass to remain in port the last patrol. We had a big event for him, and had the Mayor of Fargo proclaim Wednesday as Mr. David Zier day!! Mr Zier brought ALL FOUR of his children to the event we held - all were from either PA, DE, VA or NY.Well Done, Robalo Base!=========================================================

Subvettes, Ladies of US Submarine Veterans. I received my Lifetime membership card yesterday from Rita Kreul, SUBVETTES National President and I am still a member of the Wives of Submarine Veterans of WWII until it closes. I feel very proud to be part of both organizations supporting our men who have served and are still serving. To read how my book signing went, please go to my other blog- Life's Beautiful Path. Young men under 12 are very interested in my book.

Author Tom Jacobs was the XO on the USS Sargo SSN583 when I was COB. He also was the Commanding Officer on the USS Seadragon SSN584. The book's back blurb makes a true statement "Don't pick his book up at bedtime if you need your sleep". It is indeed hard to put down once you start to read this book. Go to Tom's Web site where you can read the First Chapter of Sons of God and order the book. http://www.mymysterynovel.com/ Donald E. Cole RMCM(SS) Ret
