IWO JIMA PHOTOGRAPH

My dad was a Public Information officer on Admiral Nimitz's staff when the Iwo Jima photograph came in. Everyone recognized it as an important photo as soon as they saw it. Just about everyone in the office wanted a copy. I have the one my dad got, made from the original negative.
Tuesday marks 71 years since Joe Rosenthal captured the iconic picture of five U.S. Marines and a Navy sailor raising an American flag over Iwo Jima.

Dear Ralph, I wanted to update you on the outcome for my father, L.D. Williams, dad did not come out of his surgeries well and as of this date is being transferred to hospice care. I thank you and all of dad's fellow submariners for their thoughts and prayers. Respectfully, Lester Williams.

Update on Willie Jones, he is home after his stay at the Rehab place. Willie was a SD on Sennet during the years ‘44-‘46.
